A big thank you goes out to everyone who worked to support the
passage of Measures 66 & 67. Our members stepped up to the plate big-time,
rallying behind, in front of, and beside the people they serve. The wholesale
slashes in funding linked to the Measures, should they have failed, were
unthinkable. The disability community recognized that fact and acted
accordingly – taking unprecedented action.
And in the end, the video
jointly produced by ORA and Shangri-La (mostly Shangri-La) largely came true!
While this seems like a happy ending, it’s important to note that
passing Measures 66 & 67 has in no way insulated individuals with
disabilities from funding cuts. Significant cuts have already taken place that
limit providers’ ability to offer the kinds and quality of services people both
need and deserve.
